Hello fellow book junkies, welcome to my little Haven!
Some of you may remember me from TheGeektasticAlii where the website idea all started, and clearly I'm all new and improved in the Haven. I started reviewing around 2012/2013 when I discovered the awesomeness of Kindle, and really wanted to actually write my thoughts down instead of keeping it all in my head. It took me awhile to give in to the idea, seeing as the book blogger community is freaking huge, so to say I was a little intimidated is an understatement, but eventually I couldn't resist any longer and I don't regret a single second of it. I want to make it clear I do not get paid for my reviews, and in no way am I a professional (just read my stuff, says it all). I purchase all my beautiful books, but I am also lucky enough to receive ARCs courtesy of the author and/or publishers every now and then. I created my blog as an outlet to share my passion for books. It's truly amazing meeting fellow book junkies from all around the world, people who just have to finish the book no matter what time it is, people who geek out like crazy over amazing authors and people who just simply share the same love and appreciation for books as I do. Do not get me started on the simply fabulous authors out there, because where would we be without their awesome books? When it comes to my authors, no joke I could rave for-freaking-ever! I haven't always been fond of reading, my dad practically had to tie me down as a child just to learn my ABC's. But as I got older I found myself completely enamoured with reading, and it wasn't long before I was finishing at least a book a day. I love losing myself in another world, taking a break from reality and just getting swept away, feeling my heart beat faster and antsy with excitement as I turn the pages. It's a truly beautiful feeling. When it comes to what type of books I read I can be a little picky, I know what I like and don't like, but I do go outside my comfort zone quiet a bit. Variety is the spice of life right? My favourite kind of books are the ones that take me on emotional roller-coasters. Books that have me laughing out loud, giddy with excitement and squealing like a child, have my heart melting and swooning, and then crying the next from intense heart ache and gut wrenching moments. Books with incredibly heart warming moments, that connect me with the characters state of mind and emotions, have happy endings and stick with me long after I've finished, impart important messages and keep me up all night on the edge. I'm not a big fan of cliff-hangers, that's not to say I won't read the book. If the book is part of a series, then I tend to put off reading until we're closer to the release date of the next book, that way I'll spend only a few days going crazy with need. It's hard putting it off though, because I've usually been waiting on pins and needles for the first book in the first place, so sometimes I do give in but hey I'm only human. I always read the preview of a book on Amazon, if I like it and I want to know what happens next well then I just one-click away. However when I receive book recommendations, come across a book that catches my attention, or I'm told to check out an author I always go to Goodreads and check out the ratings and reviews. I do not like spoilers. There's simply no point in reading, and well it just ruins it for everyone else. I like knowing the general background, and people's thoughts. The best kind of heroines are the one's who kick-ass, speak their mind, stand up for themselves and have a very endearing side to them. Now the best kind of hero in my opinion is a full blooded Alpha male *fans self*, I love their hotness, possessiveness, sexiness, protectiveness and big hearts. They're pretty much my weakness, and I'll sometimes one-click a book without reading the preview just because of them. I'm stalker obsessed with a lot of authors, and seriously if they write a book I'll buy it. They're that good, talented and just plain awesome. Such as Kristen Ashley, Tillie Cole, Jennifer Armentrout, Jessica Sorensen, Suzanne Wright and R.L. Mathewson. To name a few. I hope you like having a look around, and please do leave me comments or send me a message. I love hearing what you have to say, or receiving book recommendations.
