Saint Ford has worked hard to achieve her childhood dream of becoming of nurse. Focused on her work and devoted to her patients, there’s no room for love. She doesn’t need a guy making waves in her calm, serene life—especially when he’s the unforgettable hottie who nearly destroyed her in high school. Dark, brooding Nash Donovan might not remember her or the terrible pain he caused. But he turned her world upside down . . . and now he’s trying to do it again.
Saint has no idea that Nash isn’t the cocky player he once was. Uncovering a devastating family secret has rocked his world, and now he’s struggling to figure out his future. He can’t be distracted by the pretty nurse he seems to meet everywhere. Still, he can’t ignore the sparks that fly between them —or how she seems so desperate to get away from him. But the funny, sweet, and drop-dead gorgeous Saint is far too amazing to give up on—especially since she’s the only thing in his life that seems to make sense.
When Nash discovers the truth about their past, he realizes he may have lost her heart before he could even fight for it. Now, Saint has to decide: is Nash worth risking herself for all over again?
I don't think there are words to describe how much I connected with Saint, I mean we have our differences but the similarities were startling. She didn't have the best time in high school, and it wasn't until she went away to college she began to find herself (sounds like me already right?). She was an incredibly strong, endearing, witty and kind character. Saint's come a long way and is doing what she loves, helping people, however one run in with Nash and things seem to start unraveling fast. Her life is far from perfect but she's doing the best she can, suddenly old high school crush Nash storms in and the flame has been rekindled. I swear I got tingles from their chemistry. Now it wasn't the reunion one would think of, there was Saint's obvious dislike of Nash, and the world altering truth Nash must confront. I'd call it a meeting of fate. Why do these couple's insist on fighting the inevitable? Now Saint is a little bit of a man-hater, just a teeny tiny wee bit, but hey the men in her life have all turned out to be douchebags so who can blame her? All of it leads back to Nash, an incident that occurred long ago but haunts her to this day. Hard to move on when the object of your insecurities busts into your life. I have to give Saint her props though, she tried hard to resist the obvious attraction and chemistry, even went so far as to avoid him minions. But we all know it's futile to resist a Marked Man. Like I said their chemistry was off the charts, and damn all that sexual frustration is enough to make any woman scream in pain. But Nash needed her, and in many ways she needed him. Two halves of a whole. Gosh I wanna attack hug Jay so bad, the woman knows how to make a unique romance with heart warming characters.
Nash Donovan was a beautiful, wicked, and hot flame that burned me when I got too close.
“I don’t know that you would like me once you got to know me, and the Nash I thought I knew . . .” She looked so lost all I wanted to do was give her a hug. “I hated him, but you . . . this Nash . . . all I do is want him.”
But like I said through the darkness we find out light, and for Nash it was Saint. She pulled him through in her own way, and in his own way Nash pulled her out. Isn't that what relationships are all about? Being there for one another and finding ways to pull through, rather than sit and succumb to whatever life throws at you. Nash's character was hawt, sweet, thoughtful, strong and incredibly endearing. Being with Saint, well it just made sense. I loved how through all the chaos in their lives they find each other, and the manner Jay illustrates this is amazing. I got a little teary eyed minions. Saint has a lot of insecurities, and due to something form their past she's afraid to let Nash close, but he's determined and it's up to him to break down her walls. To show her the woman she really is, and help her embrace it. No one's perfect, heck I don't even think it exists at least...not for people, so I loved how Nash helps Saint to see that. The beauty inside is sometimes so powerful it shines on the outside, alas we're our worst critics so someone needs to give us a kick up the ass to open our eyes.
"It’s how we deal with the things that hurt us most that defines us.”
“You undo me, Saint.”
“I’m sorry.”
He sighed and rolled over so that he could pull me on top of his chest.
“Just try and put me back together when you’re done with me, all right?”
My only problem was how long Saint held onto her grudge, I mean there comes a point where you're like seriously? Girl wake up and smell the delicious tatted hotness! It seemed like Nash would gain a step and then she's take two back. It aggravated me just a little....maybe a bit more than a little. So my rating you ask? 4 amazing stars! When all's said and done Jay delivers a novel full of second chances, heartache, forgiveness and redemption. Of course there's also Jay's unique writing style, because let's be honest tatted and pierced men have never looked so good. Her characters are as always well developed, and the secondary characters are just as important. Lastly the plot is one that has you biting your nails in nervousness, holding on for dear life, shedding a few tears, a few chuckles here and there and of course leaves you with one heck of a book hangover.
