Tossed out of college and cut off by her parents, Samantha West is in pretty dire straits. So when her rocker best friend hooks her up with a job dancing at a gentlemen’s club, who is she to turn it down? Plus, there are rules to dancing at Benny’s: No touching, keep your clothes on at all times, and never get closer than three feet. Unfortunately for Sam, her first private client makes her want to break every single one of them.
Harrison Yates is scorching hot, but he’s got a past that involves being left at the altar not too long ago. Sam is determined to make him forget about his ex, but when she makes her move, it flings her life into a spiral of chaos she never saw coming.
Because Harrison Yates isn’t who he seems to be. And his secret will probably get her killed.
Samantha's character was brilliant, the first heroine I've encountered in the NA genre with a firm head on her shoulders. I mean yeah she made her fair share of mistakes, but what I loved was how she began learning her lesson, and for once actually thought before acting. She wasn't the perfect woman by any means, if anything she was a good representation of many young women. Drifting along, trying to find your place in the world. Through Sam, Lisa illustrates the struggle so many of us go through, and how one simple decision can turn everything upside down. Such a small action, and yet we never realize what it could mean for our future. Sam was witty, spirited and brave. It was hard not to like her, and as time wore on admire her for her strength. She handled herself pretty well, and did the best she could with a bad situation. Mind you, if I had a fine specimen such as Blake by my side, I wouldn't even remember the bad shit swirling around. Her relationship with Blake is intense, and the circumstances surrounding them even more so. Their story draws you in, like a fish on a hook. The writing style flows effortlessly, never losing it's rhythm with every piece fitting into the jigsaw puzzle.
"I've never been on fire like this for any other woman."
"You're on fire for me?"
"Burning Alive."
"I never saw you coming, Samantha West"
"I will never let anything hurt you. Ever."
